David Duchovny was born in New York City. He was a quiet child that mostly kept to himself. David Duchovny went to the prestigious Collegiate Prep School in New York. Some of his former class mates, include actors Zach Galligan, Jason Beghe and John F. Kennedy, Jr. He went on to Princeton and received his Master’s degree in English Literature from Yale. He left shortly before receiving his Ph.D. to act in low-budget adult films.

David Duchovny’s first acting job was a small role in Working Girl (1988), before he was quickly recognized in Jaglom’s New Year’s Day (1989). Then, he played the cross-dresser for a few episodes on TV’s Twin Peaks. After cutting his teeth on TV, David Duchovny later took on smaller roles in such movies as Chaplin (1992), Ruby (1992) and The Rapture (1991).

What really heated up his reputation as a sensitive sex symbol was his role as Jake in Showtime’s Red Shoe Diaries. Of course the role that really brought David Duchovny out into the Hollywood light was his role in as the FBI agent Fox Mulder on The X-Files.

In 1997, David Duchovny shocked female fans by announcing his marriage to Téa Leoni, the star of the sitcom The Naked Truth. Their first daughter, Madelaine West Duchovny, was born two years following the marriage.

David Duchovny left The X-Files in 2000, but he remained busy with roles in Return To Me (2000), Evolution (2001) and 2002′s Full Frontal.

After working alongside his wife as well as funnyman Robin Williams in House of D (2004), David Duchovny earned roles in 2005′s Trust the Man and 2006′s The TV Set with Sigourney Weaver. The following year, David Duchovny appeared in Things We Lost in the Fire with Halle Berry and Benicio Del Toro.

After starring in the big-screen version of The X Files: I Want to Believe, David Duchovny received another leading role on Showtime’s Californication, costarring Madeline Zima. In 2008, David Duchovny won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series for his work on the show.

That year, the leading actor also checked himself into rehab for sex addiction, sending tabloids into a stir.
